Between the Berici Hills and the plains of Polesine, agriculture takes on different forms but shares a common thread: respect for the natural rhythm of things. Azienda Agricola da Schio stems from this broad and conscious vision of the rural landscape, where every crop, every vineyard, and every human intervention is part of a larger balance. At its heart are Francesco da Schio and his son Berardo, both agronomists, who interpret contemporary agriculture by combining scientific research, sustainability, and family tradition. Together, they manage about 70 hectares between Villadose (RO) and the Vicenza area, representing a complex and dynamic agricultural system where biodiversity, production quality, and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.

The company's viticultural heart is located in the Berici Hills, in Arcugnano (VI), in vineyards well exposed to the sun and nestled in a natural environment of woods, meadows, and constant ventilation. Here, careful cultivation that respects the natural balance allows the grapes to develop a precise identity, characterized by vitality, aromatic depth, and territorial authenticity. Varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Garganega, and PIWI grape varieties intended for the production of rosés and sparkling wines become instruments to tell the story of the landscape through wine.
The vision of Agricola da Schio is based on practices aimed at soil regeneration and ecosystem protection: advanced crop rotations, no-till farming, integration of hedges and woods, stationary beekeeping, and free-range farming. A production model that looks to the future without losing its connection to history, culture, and the roots of the territory.
This philosophy finds one of its most advanced expressions in the Bosco delle Vigne project, developed in the Berici Hills. In this natural context shaped by ancient geological events, the company cares for about 15 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, orchards, meadows, and wooded areas with the aim of regenerating the landscape in an agroecological way, safeguarding biodiversity and promoting innovative agricultural techniques.

The project, carried out in collaboration with the University of Padua and with the support of WOWnature, involved the planting of over 5,000 trees, shrubs, vines, and olive trees through complementary agroforestry systems. On one hand, the rediscovery of the "vite maritata" (married vine), an ancient technique where the vine grows on tutor trees like field maple, creating a suggestive and resilient agricultural landscape. On the other hand, the creation of an experimental agroforestry vineyard, where vines coexist with forest and fruit species such as service tree, cherry plum, European bird cherry, strawberry tree, and manna ash.
Every bottle of Agricola da Schio embodies an idea of agriculture that not only produces but also interprets the territory as a living organism.
This mixed system allows for diversifying production, improving soil fertility, creating new natural habitats, and increasing the resilience of the ecosystem. The Bosco delle Vigne is also designed as a place to experience and learn, with experiential and educational paths dedicated to the principles of agroecology and the harmonious relationship between Man and Nature.
The link between agriculture, history, and territory finds symbolic synthesis in Palazzo da Schio Ca’ d’Oro, in the oldest heart of Vicenza. Here, the family preserves its memory and refines its wines in the ancient foundations of the building, resting on stones dating back to the 2nd century BCE. A continuity that spans centuries and today translates into a wine production capable of combining agronomic expertise, environmental sensitivity, and local culture.

In this balance between research, landscape, and tradition, the company's wine production takes shape. From the vineyards of Arcugnano come the Cabernet Franc Veneto IGT, a precise and territorial interpretation of the grape variety, the Garganega Veneto IGT, a luminous and authentic expression of the Berici context, the Rosso Veneto IGT, and a Rosato Frizzante Veneto IGT, capable of showcasing the more dynamic and convivial side of the company's production.
Wine thus becomes the synthesis of a regenerated landscape, advanced agronomic expertise, and a vision that looks to the future without losing its connection to history.
