The Microcosmo Cabernet Franc Veneto IGT from Agricola da Schio is born on the Berici Hills, in the Arcugnano (VI) area, from a careful selection of the company's best Cabernet Franc grapes. It is a wine that represents the deepest and most intense vision of Francesco and Berardo da Schio's agricultural production, where agronomic research, respect for the territory, and varietal interpretation meet in an authentic balance. Made from 100% Cabernet Franc from a second harvest, this wine stems from a particular production choice: the best bunches are left to ripen on the vine for an additional 15-20 days compared to traditional harvesting and are hand-picked in mid-October. This technique allows for greater aromatic concentration, complexity, and expressive depth.

Fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, enhancing the natural character of the grape and the territory. Aging continues in wooden barrels for approximately 6-9 months and then in the bottle for a year, allowing the wine to develop structure, harmony, and elegance. In the glass, it presents an intense and deep color. The aromatic profile is complex and explosive, with a rich and enveloping olfactory texture that accompanies a structured, persistent, and highly distinctive taste. Microcosmo is a Cabernet Franc designed to accompany rich and flavorful dishes, ideal with game, roasts, and spicy preparations.

The Territory

Veneto, located in northeastern Italy, is renowned for its extraordinary history, breathtaking landscapes and exquisite food and wine traditions. Veneto cuisine and wines are appreciated throughout the world and reflect the cultural and territorial diversity of the region. Veneto is famous for its fascinating historical cities such as Venice, Verona and Padua, which are home to countless works of art and architectural treasures. Venice, the city of canals and palaces, is considered one of the most romantic and fascinating destinations, while Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet, is famous for its Roman amphitheatre and opera performances. Padua, with its historic University and the Scrovegni Chapel, offers a wide range of cultural attractions.

The Veneto region is known for its excellent wine production, which includes famous wines such as Prosecco, Valpolicella and Soave. Piave is the name of a DOC wine produced in the provinces of Treviso and Venice around the lower course of the Piave. The vineyards of Veneto extend from the hills of Treviso, Vicenza and Verona to the plains of the Po. Venetian cuisine is equally varied and delicious, with fish and seafood dishes along the coast and in the Venetian Lagoon, and more robust meat and vegetable recipes inland. Some of the region's signature dishes include risotto, bigoli (egg pasta), polenta, and baccalà alla vicentina. The Pedemontana Veneta area is undoubtedly the most authentic expression of the typicality and richness of the region's food and wine heritage.

153 typical areas within a 5 km radius of the new Pedemontana Veneta highway. Among these, 9 DOP products, 5 IGP, 4 DOCG wines, 8 DOC, 4 IGT, 119 traditional agri-food products and 4 Slow Food presidia stand out. The Pedemontana Veneta offers a wide range of high-quality wines, cheeses, vegetables, cured meats and delicacies, including, to name a few, Asiago DOP, Morlacco and Imbriago cheeses, Grappa and fruit distillates, Sopressa DOP, stone-ground flours from ancient cereals (Mulino Terrevive), Extra Virgin Olive Oil DOP which, with the denomination "Conca degli Ulivi" produced (Oro de Poè) in small but very precious quantities, boasts prizes and awards in prestigious international competitions. Prosecco DOCG of Valdobbiadene and Asolo. In addition to the aforementioned Prosecco, appreciated and exported throughout the world, in recent years, native vines that had been forgotten have been re-evaluated, among which the Recantina and the Rabbiosa dei colli Asolani (Pat del Colmel) stand out. Once called “Rabbioso” or “vino del Piave”, Raboso is a native red grape variety from Veneto with a thousand-year history (Italo Cescon). It is a great Italian red wine with a clear identity well-rooted in the territory of the Piave, which today wants to regain a prestigious position among the great Italian wines. Let yourself be won over by the quality and tradition of the artisan producers we have selected for you, producers who best express the authenticity and richness of this wonderful region.

The Producer

Between the Colli Berici hills, in the north-east of Italy, and the plains of Polesine, in the province of Rovigo near the mouth of the great Po River, agriculture takes on different forms while maintaining a common thread: respect for the natural rhythm of things. Agricola da Schio was born from this broad and conscious vision of the rural landscape, where every crop, every vineyard and every human intervention are part of a greater balance. At the heart of the estate are Francesco da Schio and his son Berardo, both agronomists and interpreters of a contemporary approach to agriculture that combines scientific research, sustainability and family tradition. Together they manage around 70 hectares between Villadose, in the province of Rovigo, and the area surrounding Vicenza, in Veneto, representing a complex and dynamic agricultural system where biodiversity, production quality and environmental responsibility move forward side by side.

The winery’s viticultural heart lies in the Colli Berici hills, near Arcugnano in the province of Vicenza, an area of rolling hills in north-eastern Italy known for its limestone soils and favourable microclimate. Here, sun-exposed vineyards are immersed in a natural environment of woods, meadows and constant ventilation. Careful cultivation practices that respect the natural balance of the land allow the grapes to develop a precise identity defined by vitality, aromatic depth and territorial authenticity. Varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Garganega and PIWI grapes intended for rosé and sparkling wines become instruments through which the landscape is expressed in wine form. The vision of Agricola da Schio is rooted in practices focused on soil regeneration and ecosystem preservation: advanced crop rotation, no-till farming, the integration of hedgerows and woodlands, stationary beekeeping and outdoor livestock farming. It is a production model that looks towards the future without losing its connection to the history, culture and roots of the territory.

One of the most advanced expressions of this philosophy is the Bosco delle Vigne project, developed in the Colli Berici area. Within this natural landscape shaped by ancient geological events, the estate manages approximately 15 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, orchards, meadows and woodland areas with the aim of regenerating the landscape through an agroecological approach, safeguarding biodiversity and promoting innovative agricultural techniques. Developed in collaboration with the University of Padua and supported by WOWnature, the project has led to the planting of more than 5,000 trees, shrubs, vines and olive trees through complementary agroforestry systems. On one side is the rediscovery of the ancient vite maritata technique, in which vines grow alongside supporting trees such as field maple, creating a resilient and visually striking agricultural landscape. On the other side is the creation of an experimental agroforestry vineyard where vines coexist with forest and fruit species including service tree, cherry plum, wild cherry, strawberry tree and manna ash.

In every bottle produced by Agricola da Schio there is an idea of agriculture that goes beyond simple production and interprets the territory as a living organism. This mixed system makes it possible to diversify production, improve soil fertility, create new natural habitats and increase the resilience of the ecosystem. Bosco delle Vigne is also conceived as a place to experience and discover, with educational and experiential paths dedicated to the principles of agroecology and the harmonious relationship between Humanity and Nature. The bond between agriculture, history and territory finds symbolic expression in Palazzo da Schio Ca’ d’Oro, located in the oldest heart of Vicenza. Here the family preserves its heritage and ages its wines within the ancient foundations of the building, resting on stones dating back to the 2nd century BC. It is a continuity that spans centuries and today translates into a wine production capable of combining agronomic expertise, environmental sensitivity and a deep connection to place.

Within this balance of research, landscape and tradition, the winery’s wine production takes shape. From the vineyards near Arcugnano, in the province of Vicenza, come the Cabernet Franc Veneto IGT, a precise and territorial interpretation of the grape variety; the Garganega Veneto IGT, a luminous and authentic expression of the Berici area; the Rosso Veneto IGT; and a Rosato Frizzante Veneto IGT, wines capable of expressing the most dynamic and convivial side of the estate’s production. Wine thus becomes the synthesis of a regenerated landscape, evolved agronomic expertise and a vision that looks to the future without losing its connection to history.
