Amarone della Valpolicella D.O.C. Riserva Cent'anni
The Product in Brief:
The Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG “Riserva Cent’Anni” 2008 from Tenuta Trabucchi is one of the highest expressions of the Val d’Illasi, a wine of remarkable depth and complexity. It comes from historic vineyards located in Fondo Cereolo, Monte Tenda and Castello, at 150–250 meters above sea level. The grapes—Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta—are harvested exclusively by hand from mid-September, selecting only the finest bunches. After the harvest, the grapes undergo traditional natural drying in ventilated rooms from September to early January, losing about 50% of their weight. This process concentrates aromas, sugars and structure.
The wine is then matured in French oak barriques, where it develops elegance, depth and a unique aromatic complexity. In the glass it shows a deep garnet color. On the nose, it reveals layers of coffee, ripe and dried plum, hay, chlorophyll, eucalyptus, black pepper, marasca cherry, black truffle and graphite. The palate is powerful yet perfectly balanced: acidity, alcohol and tannins merge harmoniously. The tannins are sweet and silky, becoming slightly drier on the finish. The persistence is exceptionally long, with lingering notes of dried plum and truffle. A true meditation wine and one of the estate’s iconic labels.
