The Pedemontana Veneta is characterized by the presence of 97 Venetian Villas, architectural masterpieces located no more than 2 km from the highway.

These villas are among the 1,769 in the foothills and 3,828 scattered throughout the region. The region is also renowned for its rich food and wine heritage, with 153 specialty products within a 5 km radius of the highway. In addition to the aforementioned Prosecco, appreciated and exported worldwide, in recent years, native grape varieties that had been forgotten have been re-evaluated, including Recantina and Rabbiosa dei Colli Asolani (Pat del Colmel). In short, the Pedemontana Veneta is an unmissable tourist destination for lovers of culture, architecture, and food and wine. Thanks to the highway, visitors can easily explore the region's beauties, discover the Venetian Villas, and savor the many local delicacies. The typical products of the Pedemontana Veneta, which encompasses hilly and mountainous areas, reflect the richness and identity of a vast land with ancient agricultural and pastoral traditions.

The Producer

Welcome to the heart of Cendrole, a village rich in ancient history nestled between Castelfranco Veneto, Bassano del Grappa and Asolo. Our story begins over a century ago, during the fervor of the twentieth century. Giovanni Angelo Porcellato, the great-grandfather of the current owners, a veteran of the Great War, decided to create something extraordinary: Caneva.

The founder obtained the licenses to transform the place into a tavern along the Curiotto road, a famous path that leads to the Sanctuary also frequented by the future Pope Pius X. With the famous sign "Da Ioani el soto ghe xe sempre un bon goto" (at Giovanni the lame, there is always a good glass), Caneva became an icon over time. In the 1940s, his son Giovanni took over the reins, managing the tavern with mastery together with his mother Luigia (Nona Jija). While his father lit the oven for bread, his wife Amelia ran a small grocery store. The passion for wine, in particular Prosecco dei Colli di Conegliano e Valdobbiadene, began to make itself felt.

Today we proudly preserve a bottle of Cartizze from 1952, one of the first bottled by the winery “La Caneva dei Biasio” (Biasio is the nickname that identifies the genealogical branch of the Porcellato family). Every sip will take you back in time, with the rich taste of history and culture of Cendrole. The cellar, founded in the 1960s, houses large barrels that guard the fruit of generations of winemaking passion.

Here, we produce excellent wines such as Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG, a symbol of the ancient winemaking tradition of this land. The quality of the Manzoni crianza, cultivated with dedication and mastery, is reflected in our glasses, carrying on the family's winemaking legacy.

In the 1970s, the sons took over, transforming La Caneva into a modern winery. Our production expanded to the red Veneto IGT, a wine that embodies the balance between tradition and innovation, representing the unique character of Cendrole. In the 1990s, the Osteria became "Osteria La Caneva", a fundamental stop for those who want to savor the rich culinary tradition of Treviso and accompany the dishes with our fine wines. Today, our history is manifested in the tasting room and in the wine shop, spaces dedicated to events and tastings that allow you to immerse yourself in the wine experience of Cendrole.

We invite you to taste the past and present enclosed in each glass, which can be enriched by the choice between Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG, Incrocio Manzoni and the red Veneto IGT. Each glass of our wines is an invitation to toast together to the history that binds us to this land, a history that has become an integral part of our passion and dedication to viticulture and hospitality. With each sip, you will immerse yourself not only in the taste of our wine, but also in the soul of Cendrole. Welcome to a story that is the most beautiful in the world, and perhaps it really is.
