Valpolicella Superiore DOC Galante
The Product in Brief:
Tenuta Trabucchi's Valpolicella Superiore DOC "Galante" 2015 is produced in the prime areas of Fondo San Colombano and Castello, in the municipality of Illasi, from Guyot-trained and espalier-trained vines located at an average altitude of 220 meters above sea level. The grapes—Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Oseleta, and Forselina—are hand-picked from the second week of September to early October, selecting only the finest bunches. This is followed by partial drying for 10–15 days, with a 15% weight loss in humidity-controlled facilities, which concentrates aromas and structure without weighing down the wine.
After fermentation in stainless steel, the Valpolicella Superiore ages for 12 months in French oak barriques, achieving an elegant, balanced, and nuanced profile. In the glass, it presents a fairly intense ruby color. The bouquet is complex and clear: graphite, chocolate, dried plum, chlorophyll, licorice, black pepper, and morello cherry. On the palate, it displays medium body, a lovely fruity immediacy, and a freshness that, along with well-integrated tannins, balances the alcohol. The finish is aromatic, long, and clean.
