Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso ‘Villa Trabucchi’
The Product in Brief:
The Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso DOC “Villa Trabucchi” 2018 is one of the most distinctive expressions of Tenuta Trabucchi in Illasi. It is produced from Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella, Oseleta and Forselina—historic native varieties grown organically in the hills of eastern Valpolicella. Harvesting is carried out strictly by hand, selecting only the perfectly ripe bunches. The grapes undergo a partial drying of 20–25 days, concentrating aromas and structure. The wine is then re-fermented using the traditional “Ripasso” method on the pomace of the Amarone, gaining depth, roundness and complexity. After fermentation, it ages for 24 months in French oak barriques. The bouquet is rich and layered: cherry liqueur, chocolate, tobacco, licorice and vanilla. On the palate it is warm, velvety and harmonious, with soft tannins and a long, elegant finish.
